Welcome to Xian Shi's homepage!

I am currently a Postdoctoral Scholar in the NanoEnergy Lab, led by Professor Hai Wang, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Stanford University. I received my Ph.D. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, under the supervision of Professor Robert Dibble and Professor Jyh-Yuan Chen, and my B.Eng. in Automotive Engineering from Tongji University.

My research goal is to invent and develop the next-generation power and propulsion technologies, thus to enable affordable energy/transportation access and combat climate change. My research interests include:

  • Energy conversion and propulsion
  • Energy storage
  • Reacting flow dynamics
  • Carbon capture and sequestration
  • Materials (and nanomaterials) in energy applications
  • High-performance scientific computing (HPC) in energy research

My current research projects are:
